Distillery Information
The first distillery in Aberlour was founded in 1825, the lease holders James and John Grant ran it until 1833, when they left to build their own distillery Glen Grant. The Aberlour Distillery we know today was established by James Fleming in 1879, the first whisky was made a year later. The ownership of the distillery would pass through many hands over the decades but in 1973 was equipped with four stills. In 1974 the distillery was acquired by Pernod Richard which joined with Chivas Brothers in 2001, significantly increasing the portfolio of distilleries. The visitor centre was modernised with tours available to the public. Situated as it’s name suggests in the pretty Speyside town of Aberlour, sees many visitors from spring through to late autumn.
