Distillery Information
Founded in 1893 by John Morrison, this distillery was known as Knockdhu. Situated at the foot of The Knock hill, a location with an abundance of natural spring water supply. The distillery continued production until 1931 when it was closed for a few years, it would close again in 1940 to 1945 due to the Second World War. The distillery had been powered all that time by a steam-powered engine which was eventually retired in 1947, the distillery then connected to the national grid. Knockdhu was then closed again in 1983 but in 1988 was bought over by Inver House and production started again in early 1989. The distillery name Knockdhu was changed to An Cnoc in 1994 to avoid confusion with Knockando Distillery.
