Bottle Description

The Flora and Fauna range was released in 1991 to huge acclaim by the public and experts alike. Such was the popularity of the releases, the collection was added to years later with four further distilleries, making up the series.

This expression was released in 1991 along with the lions share of the bottlings that were part of the Flora & Fauna series, discontinued following the distillery's sale to Bacardi in 1998.

Distillery Information

Although founded in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons, the distillery wasn’t officially opened until two years later in 1898. The distillery is situated on the outskirts of Aberfeldy, where the distillery took its name from. During the Great War ( WW1 ) all production of barley was kept as food for the war effort, in 1917 all supply of barley to the distillery ceased which led to the closure of of the still for two years, it opened again and began production again in 1919. History repeated itself during the Second World War, with closure due to lack of barley supplies. The distillery passed to The Distillers Company in 1925 after the successful amalgamation with John Dewar & Sons. The distillery saw expansion in 1972, with its stills being updated and replaced. The 12 Year Old Aberfeldy was released in 1999 and a year later saw a new visitor centre named Dewars World Of Whisky. Aberfeldy to this day is the largest component of malt whisky to Dewar’s blended whisky.
